MEMBERSHIP COORDINATOR

Position Overview

The Membership Coordinator supports the collective work of the organization by overseeing the day-to-day operations of Vermont-NEA's membership activities and processes, serving as a primary resource for members, local leaders, and staff. This role ensures accurate enrollment, maintains membership records and databases, processes dues and related financial transactions, and provides responsive customer service and training. The position also supports special membership projects, develops and maintains procedures and documentation, and collaborates with colleagues to promote efficient, accurate, and member-focused operations, with strong attention to database management and accounting responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have an appreciation for the role of labor unions and for the work of public school educators.

Membership Operations Coordination

- Coordinates the day-to-day operations of Vermont-NEA's membership activities, processing membership enrollment forms (online and paper), and database management.
- Works closely with the Financial and Business Operations Manager to support billing, accounts receivable, and payment collection processing, while maintaining meticulous recordkeeping.
- Serves as a trusted membership resource for members and colleagues and provides expert input on membership-related decisions. Primary systems will include the NEA360 platform, which consists of Salesforce Cloud CRM (customer relations management), NEA internal membership applications, and their peripheral systems and applications.
- Oversees the production and distribution processes of annual membership enrollment materials.
Customer Service and Support
- Interacts with colleagues, local union leaders, and members and responds to their membership needs.
- When membership problems occur, reviews those cases by working with colleagues, members, local leaders, and NEA to resolve the matter.
- Assists with training new local leaders.
Administrative and Technical Skills
- Uses computer software applications to develop spreadsheets and perform word processing, database management, electronic communications and other applications in support of Vermont-NEA's membership activities.
- Composes, copies, and distributes routine correspondence, reports, and other printed and electronic materials.
- Provides back up to other administrative assistants and staff as needed.
- A commitment to confidentiality is required, all within the context of a highly professional and advocacy-oriented membership organization.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Union experience at the local, state, or national level preferred.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management Systems, Accounting, or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired.
- Experience with accounts receivable systems, including database query and report-writer skills.
- Intermediate skill in the use of general as well as industry-specific CRM software to perform operational and analytical functions.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, spreadsheets, records management, designing forms, and other general office practices.
- Vermont-NEA is a Microsoft Office workplace, and proficiency in Excel, Word, and other Microsoft applications is required.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
- Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

The salary range for this position is: $52,399.00 - $88,065.00 annually and comes with a comprehensive benefits package, pursuant to a collectively bargained agreement.
